After exploring blogs in the region that are doing it well, I was surprised to find that very few businesses have a blog and those that do make critical mistakes. A Search for Regional Business Blogs

Businesses often underestimate the potential of social media and blogging, so I took some time to search out regional business blogs to see how they were being used. Based in Collingswood New Jersey, I focused on South Jersey business blogs with a focus on Cherry Hill, Atlantic City and Millville as some of the largest business communities in the region. Using some advanced Google search operators to identify sites with either blog in the URL or Title I identified and reviewed about 50 South Jersey business blogs. Generally I found…

South Jersey Business Blogs Suck

Needless to say I was underwhelmed. After performing a lengthy search I found that there was a dearth of good business blogs in southern New Jersey. Some of my findings included:

  • Blogs were infrequently updated
  • Basic Search Engine Optimization practices were not used
  • Most blogs were limited to text; only one blog featured video
  • Blog posts focused exclusively on company products & services
  • Few blogs offered any personality

Granted, my research was not comprehensive and my comments may be unfair but the vast majority of blogs that I encountered were pretty lame.
